Delhi
Delhi, The political capital of India, Delhi, makes up one of the cornerstones of the golden triangle in the country's north. Finding its genesis in the great Indian epic the Mahabharata, as Indraprastha, Capital of the Pandava princes, today the city has transformed itself into a new incarnation. Reflecting the many colors and flavors of India's eclectic composition, contemporary Delhi is one where you will be inspired, amazed, fascinated and impressed at every corner. The India Gate, Red Fort, Jam Masjid, Chandni Chowk, Kutub Minar, Jantar-Mantar, Laxmi Narayan Temple, Akshardham Temple, Bahai Temple and many more are worth seeing in Delhi. The city is the perfect mix of the old and the new. From the colonial pillars of Connaught Place to the lanes of Chandni Chowk and the malls of South Extension, you will find discover a whole range of experiences here. Delhi is also a paradise for shopping, eating and sight-seeing.

Jaipur
Jaipur, the picturesque capital of Rajasthan also known as the Pink city was founded in 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Sing II. It was first planned city in India, beautifully laid out gardens and parks, attractive monuments and marvelous heritage hotels, which were once the residence of Maharajas, are worthy of admiration. Visit to Amber fort, City Palace, Jantar-Mantar, Hawa Mahal, the ambling camels and cheerful people in multi-hued costumes will make your trip to the pink city a memorable one.

Shekhawati Shekhawati is simply beautiful. Every street, house and wall has the stamp of an artist's imagination in paint. Wherever you cast an eye, frescoes smile back. The plethora of these murals comes rather as a surprise in a land which is traditionally known as an 'impoverished corner of an arid land'. But then the whole of Rajasthan, which is partly sandy and partly rugged and blessed only in a few places with a lake or a patch of green, is an exercise in color. Color which is the everyday life of the people. Color which the people live in to counter that of the semi-arid scrub. Color that people give to their surroundings… You just have to visit Shekhawati to believe what a riot color and imagination can create together, the Shekhawati which is Rajasthan's very own Open Air Art Gallery.

Khimsar

Perched on the edge of the Great Thar Desert in the heart of rural India lies this unique 16th century fort that offers experience after exhilarating experience. Hundreds of years of history unfold as you glance at its battle-scarred walls and stroll down its ramparts. You are not prepared for the beauty, the grandeur, the layout or the magnificence of this castle even as you approach it through sand dunes and narrow countryside roads. It suddenly hits you on a blind corner. Come and savor the experience…The Khimsar Dunes Village nestles amidst sand dunes that seem to roll into eternity. Fortunately, access is only by jeep, camel or horseback. It is truly remote, rural and romantic! Rustic in appearance, in consonance with the surroundings, these luxurious huts have been deliberately designed to be eco-friendly. Come savor the tranquility of the Thar Desert in all its majesty! The mini-lake that appears out of nowhere seems to be just a mirage. The Khimsar Dunes Village is a mere 15 minute drive from the Fort. Also, what sets aside these properties from the others is the fact that these are family run hotels and 20th generation of the royal lineage still resides in the fort. The staff today is also direct descendants of royal courtiers who have served the family for generations with passion, loyalty and sincerity. This extended family offers hospitality at its best because it is hospitality from the heart!

Jaisalmer
Jaisalmer, another princely state of Rajasthan is a paradise of the desert kingdom. Summarizing the allure of the desert, the splendid Jaisalmer nestles in the foothills of Trikuta. Jaisalmer is a desert city and instantly invokes number of ../../images in the mind of travelers. The word itself provokes an image of deserted land with camel swiftly moving on the golden sands. The city is almost enticing and for domestic travelers as it is to foreign tourists. Standing in pride with its colossal forts, palaces and haveli's, Jaisalmer showcases the artistic sense of the Rajput kings. The city is awesome to cover in cool season. The city is actually divided into nearly two equal halves. The town is small enough to be covered on foot. If not less, try spending at least 4 days in the city, only then you would get a full coverage of beautiful city.

Osiyan
The ancient city of Ossian is famous for its architectural temples that date back to medieval age. Located at the verge of the Thar Desert, Osiyan can be easily reached from anywhere in Rajasthan. Ossian is accessible from Jodhpur that lies at a distance of 65 kms in the north-west. However, one can reach Osiyan Temples by taking regular buses or by hiring taxis. Ossian has not less than 100 temples belonging to the sect of Hindus and Jains. The city of Osiyan is said to have founded by Utpaladeva, who was a Rajput Prince belonging to Pratihara Dynasty. In those times, the city was named as Ukesha or Upkeshapur. During the Pratihara dynasty, Ossian is believed to be the major religious and cultural centre of the Mewar kingdom. A major number of shrines are devastated with the ravages of the time, however 18 shrines are still there unfolding the royal legacy of past. Amongst these temples, Surya (Sun) Temple, Harihara Temple, Sachiya Mata Temple and a Jain temple dedicated to Lord Mahavira get the prime importance. Ossian is regarded as a prominent pilgrimage site for Oswal Jain community. Ravages of the time have destroyed these temples to an extent, still their charm attract people to visit the ancient city of Ossian.

JODHPUR
Set at the edge of the Thar Desert, the imperial city of Jodhpur echoes with tales of antiquity in the emptiness of the desert. Once the capital of the Marwar state, it was founded in 1459 A.D. by Rao Jodha-chief of the Rathore clan of Rajputs who claimed to be descendants of Rama - the epic hero of the Ramayana. The massive 15th century A.D. Mehrangarh Fort looms on the top of a rocky hill, soaring 125 Mts. Above the plains. The city is encompassed by a high wall -10 km long with 8 gates and innumerable bastions. A major trade centre of the 16th century A.D. the fortress-city of Jodhpur is now the second largest city of Rajasthan.

Rohetgarh
In the small town of Rohet, close to Jodhpur, Rohetgarh has been the home to the Singh family since the 17th century. In the 1990s, it became one of the leading heritage hotels in Rajasthan. Guests can relax in the spacious garden and several courtayrds, one of which houses the swimming pool, where meals are often served poolside. Several famous authors including Bruce Chatwin and William Dalrymple have spent extended stays here to enjoy the peaceful setting as they write. There are 29 rooms and 6 suites, the latter being very spacious. All are air conditioned, have ceiling fans, TV, internet access and ensuite bathrooms. The suites also have tea and coffee making facilities. The rooms vary in shape, size and decor and are scattered throughout the rambling building.Rohetgarh is famous for its traditional food, and you can learn about Rajasthani cooking by attending a cooking class here. The restaurant also serves continental dishes as well as traditonal Indian food. Snacks are served by the pool and on the rooftop terrace, which is also a popular place to enjoy a sundowner. Rohetgarh is also famous for its stables, and horse riding trips can be arranged for visitors. Rohet is a great location to base yourself to explore the surrounding local communities, and during a village visit you can learn about the Bishnoi villages and wildlife of this desert region.

UDAIPUR

Udaipur is the jewel of Mewar kingdom ruled by the Sisodia dynasty for 1200 Years. The foundation of the city has an interesting legend associated with it. According to it, Maharana Udai Singh, the founder, was hunting one day when he met holy man meditations on a hill overlooking the Lake Pichola. The hermit blessed the Maharana and advised him to build a palace at this favorable located spot with a fertile valley watered by the stream, a lake, an agreeable altitude and an amphitheater of low mountains. Maharana followed the advice of the hermit and founded the city in 1559 A.D.

Chittorgarh
Chittorgarh, also called Chittaur, from the 7th century to the 16th, was the capital of Mewar under the Rajputs. Chittaur evokes memories of great heroism and sacrifice by Rajput men and women in the intermittent battles that they had to fight against invaders from Northwest or Delhi. Chittaur witnessed both the ravages of war and the triumphs of the spirit. Allaudin Khilji who coveted Queen Padmini of Chittaur, invaded the city in 1303 A.D. Queen Padmini and the women of the court sacrificed themselves in a pyre of fire rather than submit to anybody. This supreme sacrifice has been called 'Jauhar' and epitomises the fiery spirit of the Rajputs of the day. The city stands strewn with monuments and battlements as evidence of the blood and gore that it went through in medieval times.

Deogarh

As soon as you glimpse the Deogarh Mahal, you can see that its rulers must have been serious players in the Mewar aristocracy, their magnificent fort a fitting stronghold for one of its sixteen “umraos” - the most senior feudal barons attending on the Maharana of Udaipur. Even so, you might not necessarily guess that the Rawats of Deogarh (a local title equivalent to “Raja”) once ruled over the fourth largest jagir in the whole of Rajasthan. At its most extensive, their territory comprised some 210 villages, with one of their defensive forts as far as 100 km away. Yet there is little ostentation and even less gold to be found in their palace. Like most of the Mewar nobility, they spent too much time fighting to have much to spare for amassing great wealth. And yet if one of their ancestors, had had a better sense of humour, the throne of Mewar might even have been theirs.

The modernprincely state Karauli was founded about 995 by Raja Bijai Pal a jadon rajput ruler ; or is claimed that he was 88th in descent from the hindu god Krishna Little is however known about the early history of the family; the state was long a fief in Jaipur state until the HEIC chose, in the early 19th century, to recognise Karauli as being an independent principality. In 1818, Karauli was made part of the Rajputana Agency.

Agra
Agra is a medieval city on the banks of Yamuna River was founded by Sultan Sikandar Lodi in 1956. It achieved fame as the capital of the Mughal emperors from 1526 to 1658 and remains a major tourist destination because of its many splendid Mughal-era buildings, most notably the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri, all three of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
